Hawks soar past Rockets on opening night (Podcast)

The Atlanta Hawks opened their 2022-23 season with a 117-107 win over the Houston Rockets. The Hawks had 5 guys in double figures and it was the debut of newly acquired guard Dejounte Murray who finished the night with 20 points, 11 assist and 5 steals. Hawks all-star Trae Young had a double-double on the night as well chipping in with 23 points and 13 assists of his own.

It was a sold out arena for game one, everyone received t-shirts and the Hawks gave the fans plenty to cheer about. Hawks came out in their red on red uniforms to match the red t-shirts on the backs on every seat in the arena.

The Houston Rockets are a young tough team but the Hawks stayed poised and made enough plays down the stretch to pull out the 10 point victory. We discussed the game in detail in our latest edition of The Hawksbeat Podcast.
