The Atlanta Hawks kicked off their 2021-22 season in stunning fashion by beating Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks 113-87 Thursday night at State Farm arena. Inside the arena was a sea of red as the Hawks gave out free t-shirts to everyone in attendance. Although technically the game may have been a sell-out there was a noticeable amount of empty seats in the building probably due to the fact that Atlanta Braves had the opportunity to clinch and move on to the world series. Nevertheless it was still loud inside the arena as the crowd erupted when John Collins got the first two points of the season for the Hawks on a jump hook.
The highlights for the night were the defense of De’Andre Hunter on Luka Doncic, the play of Cam Reddish and the new roster additions that were added in the offseason. Trae Young finished with 19 points and 14 assist and Cam added 20 points off the bench.
