Atlanta Hawks acquire Lou Williams in trade deadline deal sending Rajon Rondo to the Clippers.

In the last hour of the trade deadline the Atlanta Hawks reportedly sent Rajon Rondo the the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Lou Williams and two 2-round picks. The news broke about 30 mins before the 3pm trade deadline.

The news was initially reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and later confirmed by multiple reporters of The Athletic.

Early reports are that Lou is returning back to his home state to play and not be bought out. The deal make sense for both teams financially as now the Hawks get off the 2nd year of that Rondo’s deal and gain roughly $7.5 million to spend elsewhere. The Clippers get some much needed point guard help which was a glaring weakness for them.
